Kate is a creative professional, artist, and director specializing in new play development. Throughout her career, Kate has navigated both the world of directing and non-profit arts leadership, primarily at organizations dedicated to fostering opportunities and providing support to artists of all backgrounds and disciplines. Before joining Rattlestick, she served as the Creative Director for SPACE on Ryder Farm, a non-profit artist residency and organic farm in the Hudson Valley. Kate has developed and directed work with institutions such as La Jolla Playhouse, Clubbed Thumb, Ars Nova, Dixon Place, IRT, NYU, Actors Theatre of Louisville, Luna Stage, SPACE on Ryder Farm, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, University of Rochester, and Gowanus Arts Productions, among others. Kate holds an MFA in directing from The New School, where she was awarded the Doug Hughes Directing Scholarship. She is also a founding member of Tiedyen4biden (VOGUE, LATimes), a grassroots movement that raised $170,000 for Democratic campaigns during the 2020 election cycle.
As a graphic designer and digital artist, Kate loves to create meaningful visual storytelling pieces for nonprofits, educators, and artists. She has produced content and print media for clients such as Mason Bates’ Philharmonia Fantastique, The New School for Performing Arts, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Concert Adventures for Early Childhood, and SPACE on Ryder Farm.
Additionally, Kate excelled as a chef for seven years at SPACE on Ryder Farm, where she enriched the resident kitchen program and collaborated with the farm's growers to develop numerous recipes. Currently, Kate serves as a chef for various supper clubs in NYC and the Hudson Valley. In 2021, she was a Culinary Resident at Marble House Project, where she created a nine-course tasting menu inspired by her fellow resident artists.
